Indeed we did. TGV from Paris to the Charente Maritime for Christmas at my sister and brother in laws’. French hospitality: fantastic food, good company, great wine and all very much at ease. Disarming landscapes though, even for winter: very flat, big skies, big fields, empty crane nests and set aside fields.

I’ve shown this one before, but thought I’d brag a bit. It’s a shot of seagulls over Ilfracombe harbour, shot on one of our first visits here before moving down. We had just had chips with curry sauce (I’m northern) and decided to sit a while and watch the harbour activities.
